Healing includes:
• no longer ignoring your feelings
• learning to have boundaries
• learning to speak up for yourself
• learning to cope with pain in a healthy way
• no longer depending on others to feel happy
• no longer depending on others to feel loved
• no longer putting others on a pedestal
• no longer settling for unhealthy relationships
• no longer staying in abusive relationships
• no longer living from a place of blame
• taking personal responsibility

If you struggle transitioning from self-abandonment to self-love, start by focusing on self-respect. If you’re familiar with my self-love hierarchy, you‘ll understand that self-respect is the first step to developing self-love. While self-love can take months and years to firmly establish, self-respect is always a decision you can decide in the present moment.

Here are tips to establish self-respect:
1. Write down your values.
2. Honor your feelings.
3. Honor your needs.
4. Have boundaries.
5. Assert your boundaries when you feel violated.
6. Spend time with people who are positive, uplifting and loving.
7. Forgive your past.
8. Stop trying to keep up with others.
9. Prefer to be alone rather than stuck in bad relationships.
