Yesterday, I talked about the difference between emotional reactivity and emotional responsibility.⠀⠀If you struggle with reactivity, you have to develop a better relationship with your emotions. Here are my most effective tips to achieve this:⠀⠀1. Develop Self-Awareness• Self-awareness is the most powerful tool you have.• When you develop self-awareness, you’re able to observe your emotions rather than react to them.⠀⠀2. Acknowledge Your Feelings• Happiness isn’t better than sadness. Joy isn’t

1. Develop Self-Awareness
• Self-awareness is the most powerful tool you have.
• When you develop self-awareness, you’re able to observe your emotions rather than react to them.

2. Acknowledge Your Feelings
• Happiness isn’t better than sadness. Joy isn’t better than depression. No feeling is better than another. Every feeling is a chemical reaction in the nervous system.
• The more you acknowledge chemicals in your nervous system, the more you’ll see the ignorance in reacting to what’s happening inside of you. You’ll learn that feelings aren’t bad, but a natural part of being human.

3. Set The Intention To Learn About Yourself
• Humans are the only species with the ability to transform themselves and their life circumstances.
• When you set the intention to learn, you step into your personal power rather than continuing to feel powerless. When you don’t feel powerless, you’ll no longer react.

4. Choose Trustworthy Partners
• If your partner isn’t trustworthy, then you’ll never feel safe in a relationship with him or her; therefore, the emotional reactivity is a natural result of survival instinct attempting to protect you in a perceived dangerous situation.
• Trustworthy behaviors are: honest communication, honoring boundaries, predictability, reliability and loyalty.

5. Build A Relationship With A Therapist Or Online Coach
• A therapeutic relationship is the best type of relationship, especially when the orientation is focused on healing goals and self-exploration.
• A good therapeutic relationship will help you see that every emotion you experience is a good thing, and nothing to be ashamed about. Shame is what creates reactivity."
